Dr Priscott attends EDQM conference on Alternative to Animal Testing.
In an effort to keep abreast of developments in the field, Dr Priscott took part in the conference on "New Approaches in the Development and Control of Biologicals" in Dubrovnik. He was the only representative from Australia and underscores ams Laboratories' commitment to staying current biologicals testing.

Ms Thu Phan attends Cosmetic Microbiology Symposium.
Ms Thu Phan visited Newark, New Jersey to attend the PMF cource on cosmetic microbiology. ams Laboratories is commited to keeping up to date with modern trends in the fields it operates in and Thu was able to learn first hand of current practices and trends in this important area of service to our customers.

ams Laboratories take part in AusBiotech trade delegation to P.R.China.
In November,Dr Priscott and Mr Wang travelled to China as part of the AusBiotech delegation. The delegation visited Beijing, Tianjing, Shanghai and Suzhou in a very full itinerary that included meetings with representatives from government, industry and service organizations working in the biotechnology sector.

ams Laboratories attains approval for PCRMycoplasma Test.
Recently, after an extensive programme of validation to pharmacopoeial requirements, the laboratories were recognized for this rapid method of Mycoplasma detection. This new capability cements the existing expertise in pharmacopoeial conventional culture and cell indicator methods of detection. It will mean a significant reduction in time to get an answer and be of great value to the biotechnology and tissue product industries.

Dr Yung Dai attented the 3rd PDA mycoplasma workshop in Berlin.
Chairs for the conference were Dr Barbara Potts ( Genetech Inc) and Dr Thomas haemmerie ( Baxter). This was an opportunity for ams staff involved in mycoplasma testing to gain a better understanding of issues facing the Biotech industry and regulatory requirements that relate to mycoplasmas. Speakers included many world experts in this field and regulatory delegates from FDA and EDQM.
Yung was able to obtain some data and information on detection of mycoplasmas from different commercial suppliers and learn of the latest developments that relate to mycoplasma detection. ams Labs has gained accreditation for NAT testing for mycoplasma since February 2009. We will continue to offer our expertise in assisting our clients with mycoplasma testing as required by international bodies.
